portfolio companies already use one or two of the tools, but
most haven’t put them all together to maximize their ROI
The tools/processes are:

• An NPD project portfolio management process.
• Customer-value innovation/voice-of-the-customer
• Removal of process bottlenecks.
By spending a day with the leadership team and key
people involved in NPD, I can generally achieve two things:

convey what types of activities lead to better
results in NPD.
• Clarity regarding where process improvement
efforts should be focused to further increase value
for their R&D investment.
